Our team of 4 apprentices join us at Warwick Arts Centre this week, to undertake the next part of their training. Working with the brilliant Yael Owen-McKenna, they are doing a 2-day intensive on the work of Rudolf Laban in order to complete their Laban Guild Foundation Course throughout the Boys Dancing project. I popped in and snapped these pics as they did some beautiful and powerful improvisations.
What a night!
On Tuesday 11 February 2014, over 160 lads from across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire came together to perform Artful Dodgers in Warwick Arts Centre's huge concert hall. And they totally smashed it! Giving the audience seated around the balconies of the hall a real treat of group work, solos and duets, they were all amazingly focussed and gave it their all. What a performance!
The show was filmed live, so there will be a video capturing the performance on this site soon, but for the time being, have a look at some photos of our talented Artful Dodgers over in the Gallery.
Huge congratulations to all of Team CSW!
The tension is building....
Tonight's the night that over 200 boys and young men from across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire finally come together to perform their show Artful Dodgers at Warwick Arts Centre.
As we speak, last-minute rehearsals are underway. In the video below, choreographer Adam takes some of the lads through their paces on the unison section. That's a lot of boys!
We wish everyone the best for luck for tonight. Go Team CSW!

Tomorrow 20 groups of young men will be arriving at Warwick Arts Centre to rehearse and bring together Dave McKenna's vision for this year's Boys Dancing in Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire. Under the subject umbrella of 'Avoidance' these three areas have been working independently on sections for Artful Dodgers with artists/choreographers since September 2013.
Tomorrow these sections will be rehearsed and new sections to be devised to bring the whole piece together. I am really looking forward to seeing what the other groups have made and the show in its entirety!
“One boy, who is severely autistic , has been completely changed by boys dance. Other boys now respect him for what he can do, and he has gained the confidence to go up on stage. He has asked to attend outside groups, which he would not do before, and has joined a local breakdance crew. He has been able to develop a social circle he did not have before.”
Great day @warwickarts @BoysDancing @BeingFrankPT @LukeDSheppard @Its_Thato @arctic_sunrise - one week until SHOWTIME!
